A recent item, this horse just formed itself while I was thinking about how to glaze a platter. The horse measures about 5.5 inches (16 cm) tall. It was bisque fired then high fired to 2100F and I have no idea why it turned black. Must have been the clay I used but i don't remember. After making the horse, I had put it on top of a back shelf to dry slowly for a couple of months. By letting it dry slowly for a long time, it lowers the risk of it breaking in the high fire. It is solid clay. The texture is not smooth - rather it has 'tooth' and grog and is textured to the touch.
